I intended to avoid any permanent modifications to the Traxxas chassis to accommodate my new bodywork concepts. However, there are a couple relatively simple things which could be done to allow for much more optimal designs.
The rear bulkhead mod allowed for a huge reduction in rear bodywork height. Similarly up front, it's the body-post sockets on top of the bumper mount which define how low the nose bodywork can be made.
Traxxas made these mounts very robust, probably a good idea given how crash-prone the stock Rally seems to be. Cutting the height of the sockets reduces the support material a little bit, but still leaves a majority of the mount structure. I left some of the socket above to give my light bracket something to attach to as well as keep some material around the body-post screw.
